It is my uncles boat and has been stoerd for 5 years. it is at a marina and was winterized. it is a 1990. I BELIVE it is 23' and has a OMC Cobra 5.7. It is an open bow and has a step down and with a closet and a sink then back up to get in the bow if i remember corectly.
What model would this be? is the cobra better then the OMC outrive I had in my 79 century (for sale!)? is the rubber water pumo easear to change incase it is collapsed from sitting like my last boat was? THANKS guys!

What is it you really want to know? You already know that omc is OUT OF BUSINESS.

Is it better ? Better then what, a stringer that you already have? You know the difference .

Your uncles boat has been sitting for 5 years, new impeller in the drive. Hard to do no. But has to be done before you even turn over the motor.

To do it right You will need to change out the motor oil, and look at it before you start it up. What are you looking for in the oil, you might ask? And i would reply WATER.

So drain it into a clear container and let it sit while you put fresh into the motor.

Now to have to spin the oil pump, there is a tool you can use where you pull the dizzy and spin the pump.

Then you have to check the points if you have them. I think they were still using points in 90' maybe not.

Hows the oil in the drive before you turn over the motor. See if the drive is locked up the motor won't turn.

Then see if you can start it. Or at least turn it, if not turning and locked up the motor you will have to pull the drive. MAKE SURE WATER IS GOING TO THE DRIVE, ANYTIME YOU TRY TO START IT. Or you will be changeing impellers again, running the motor for 3-5 seconds can fry the impeller.

Then try it again. If your uncle is giving you the boat then it may be worth your time and money, any other way it's not worth it.

Good luck !
