Hi, I currently have a 1985 21' Wellcraft Cuddy with a SBC 350/ alpha one combo. SHe is a great boat and I have done lots of upgrades to the combo, but it is still a SBC, and I am past the horsepower rated limit of the drive and afraid to do much more.

I am thinking of upsizing, and and looking at a 26' 1989 Celebrity Andretti model with 454/ Bravo One combo. Besides the bigger engine, better outdrive, it also has more room and better accomondations in the cuddy area.

Anyhow, anything to look out for in this year 454 or Bravo? Or does anybody have any specific info on the Celebrity Andretti models (looks like a scarab or cigarette).

Thanks.

Wow, since nobody has comments either way I guess it is safe to say I'm on my own 8)

Seriously, I hope by no answers people are saying the 454/ bravo is way better than the 350/alpha I have now. I haven't really had a maintenance issue with my alpha, and it's handled everything I've thrown at it, but the Andretti is a bigger boat so hopefully the Bravo will hold up as well.

Adam, I can't tell you anything about the 454/bravo, except you can only upgrade to a 502, before going to multiple engines. 8)

I would be interested in hearing about your upgrades to the 350 and experiences/results.

John S,

aftermarked MPFI system that came with new ECU, intake manifold injectors, distributor etc.

I also replaced my old heads with DART heads that closely resembled Vortec heads but worked with my setup.

I am guessing I gained at least 50 hp, and probably 8-10 mph. I can't WOT it now because the only time I did she rev'ed up to 6,000 rpms before I backed off. I have a 14X21 SS mercruiser prop.

I also converted to a complete MSD marine ignition system which has made my idling fishing way better.

All together, a whole different responding engine.

In the market for an older hooked up 21' Wellcraft cuddy LOL

Oh, BTW, I was originally looking for a twin 454/bravo set up but this one I'm looking at is more within my price range (given that I can't trade mine in since it is for sale by private seller).
