I am currently thinking of buying a 1998 Four Winns 18' Bowrider w/Johnson 130HP O/B. They are asking $7,449. Is this a good salt water boat and is that a good price. Thanks so much

Assuming inland saltwater estuaries? Wouldn't you want to have a self bailing deck? even if you plan to stay inside coastal areas? Couldn't even begin to tell you if its good deal or not.

It is a good boat for many things. Running off shore isn't one of them. If you are going to be in protected bays it would be ok.

The price isn't great, but not bad either. I assume it has been used in salt water all its life. If it is a fresh water boat with low hours it is a very reasonable price.

From someone growing up on the coast. I would not use this boat for anything other than Bay activities. Going off shore in this boat is not a good idea. My dad, who had a 500 ton masters license, always told me if you plan on going out to sea, you better have at least 2 engines on your boat. If one fails, you have the other to limp home on.

I have a 1989 four winns that I recently purchased for $3200 so hopefully that can give you some idea on price. It's a 180 Horizon 18'6" with a 4.3L 175 HP OMC I/O.

Good Luck!
