Parts can still be found and the engine is easier to repair than either Merc or OMC.

Re: thinking of buying a 50 horse force

I have a 1986 50 horse Force boat motor -- I had not used it in over 10 years. I bought a new battery and it fired right up and runs smooth as ever. My question is -- the battery is a deep cycle and the only thing I use it for besides starting the motor is to run a 36lb thrust Minnolta Trolling motor-- Do I need to charge the battery every so often or does the 50 horse recharge the battery while it is running?

Thanks
