First of all I know my boat is not an ideal skier boat. It's an all rounded boat that does many things good but not great. It's a vintage 87 Starcraft Select 191s in very good shape for it's age. Powered by an OMC Cobra 5.7 (260hp.) motor. Because of the age of the boat it is hard to get proper data on the prop sizes, even Turning point prop wizard is saying they cant give a proper reccomendation. The boat is 18.8 in long & a wide 94 in. beam. Its a bowrider. When I bought it it came with two 14.5 x 17 Aluminum props that seem to do ok for tubing & getting on plane quickly. It can pull an experienced mid weight skier out of the water but when it comes to newbie skiers which I mostly deal with It tends to not pull enough at the critical point. I also should mention that I have 3 to 4 people in the boat when I do this which may be overloading it for this task. I do have a 15 x 19 ss prop for speed that is better for meeting my WOT but not great for pulling skiers. So my questiion is what about a 4 blade prop maybe a 16 or 15 pitch for getting those new skiers out quicker? I dont care about speed for this situation just holeshot & acceleration. As old as the motor is it runs well & have a feeling it's not the motors fault. I realize it may have lost some horsepower along the way but I dont think a whole lot. I dont have an hour meter on it but I know the history well.
