I don't know if this is the right place or "Pontoons". Mods, if misplaced, please relocate.
Last November I bought a derilict 87 LOWES 20' pontoon & have busied myself for the last several months rebuilding. Hope to find time to post a step by step, but I'm still building. I took her out for a week on Havasu & found a few shortcomings. Primarily how deep the stern sits. It's impossible to get on plane unless I put two or three adults up front with my wife in back & me amidship. Way too much slip on the prop & can't come up to recommended WOT. I'm going to replace the prop from the 13 3/4 x 15 to a 14 x 11 or 13 but I've started thinking about a third pontoon. I'm building one that will be 24" wide, 12 inches deep & 15 feet long. Rectangular in cross section, flat bottom, 3 foot rake to bow
Now to my questions;
I'm planning to extend the toon behind the other two pontoons.
How much? 2 ft, three?
The existing motor pod is 16 inches deep (the toons are 24).
How deep should the third toon be, 12, 16, 24?
The Cavitation plate on the motor ( 87 125 FORCE) is currently level with the bototm of the toons, about 8 inches below the motor pod.
Where should I set the Cav plate?
I know, bunch of quesstions from a new guy But it's either trial & error or trial by someone else's error. (Much preferred)

Thanks for you consideration,
Jim
