seems to be a bit cranky, Sometimes the water pump pumps real well sometimes it dont' where can I find a water pump for a 1951 omc/gale goodyear 5 hp boat motor? Any tips on keeping it running would be needed also what kind of spark plugs do I need?

Probably need a new impeller at least. Check the links page at this site: http://www.aomci.org Impellers still available for those from a variety of sources. Acme Outboards I know has a manual/guide for your 51 Sea King. It takes a Champion J4J or J6J plug gapped at .030, point gap setting is .020 and fuel mix is 16:1. You can probably run 24:1 with modern TCW-3 marine oil. Make sure the water pickup screen down on the lower unit is clean/clear. It can't pump water if it can't take it in.
