No, they weren't idiots as much as they were a--holes. I have a very bad memory of a guy in a Tahiti style boat and an inline 6 Merc. cutting cookies around my family and I just like in this video. Keep in mind we were dad, mom, and two little kids. I couldn't have been more than 6 or 7 years old and the fright was enough for me to still remember it. The other thing I remember is how angry my dad was.

Incidents like that are why I always carry a cell phone in the boat. I don't ever hesitate to call the cops on idiots like those guys, whether it's me or someone else they're endangering.

Where I am, on the popular lakes, there's always a sheriff's boat somewhere on the lake on weekends. Typically, the offending boater is intoxicated, besides endangering other boaters. Expensive ticket.

Grounded as these idiots were, they're easy for the patrol boat to find. I'd just stay around, nearby, until they got there, then laugh by butt off while they were talking to the cop.
