I have a 75 mercury 500 50hp..ran excellent yesterday, I put it in the water today and the engine would start and die within 5 seconds.. I pulled the plugs and it seems to be getting spark however I notice the plugs arent' really "wet". Should they be???? also when i prime it(nice and hard bulb), I notice some spillage coming from the one carb..Is this normal???? New fuel pump installed. I'm open to suggestions thanks Erik

If in fact you have spark, then there is the the possibility of water in the carb or if the engine has been sitting for a while that the fuel has lossened up some carb scale thr putting some carb-fuel ingecter cleaner in the fuel and running the engine at high idle telegrapic the choke to the to get the engine to pass it. If that don't work you will probably have to clean the carbs
