The better question is. Why is there so much corrosion on the inside of the transom? Was the boat sunk for a long period of time?

As far as Ebay goes, it's your call. Usually you can get more if you piece it out and it is easier to ship.

If there was water getting in from the rear it also means there was water in the boot which also means water probably got in the drive.

What does the drive oil look like?

The oil looks dark

i think the reason that bar that goes into the coupler is rusty is cause between the transon and plate holding it the boat seal joint around it look pretty bad since this Outdrive is not original from this boat and the boat plywood holding it is very soft so thats why water was going through there i think, the rest looks fine

Re: $$ this omc cobra 5.0L outdrive is worth

wow $1500
at least $800 or 1000 will be enough, i can paint it and make it look like new but that would be bad for the buyer if i try to make it too nice from outside and i don't know what's inside, but 1 thing im sure is that this outdrive is in working state and something that bother me now is the Rusty transom bar that goes to engine coupler, i think i can take it out and sell it without it cause everything else looks in good shape, just need paint and some details.

do you think if i take the gimball housing part out is better to sell it? cause the aluminum on the back is la little wasted by the salt.

will see, like how much this outdrive weight if any know? cause if i sell it all together is better to me, do i have to call UPS first before posting it on ebay.?
when i sell on ebay i do the shipping myself or ebay has anything to do with it?

The shipping you need to handle. I would pull the 6 nuts and remove it from the gimbal housing.Maybe take the u-joints out and remove the rusted drive shaft. If the oil is not milky in it just put in your add that it was in running condition when removed from the boat.Being honest on Ebay will pay off.

awesome
i will do that thanks, the OIL inside looks normal is not milky and the one that had water was in the v8 ENGINE it looked milky. the engine didn;t have the oil measure strip and the pistons inside had something that looked similar to sand and white but was not sand probably the same fuel created that. whatever cya
