3 miles from the dock and suddenly the motor wouldn't start. Just a click from the solenoid.

Broken mount on one side and broken bolt on the other.

Only tool I had on board were needlenose pliers, but after some brainstorming I managed to get it back in place for one more start. Boats are always an adventure.

Some JB weld did the job for the rest of my vacation.

I figured out why it happened after I got back to the cabin. I went to trim down the motor, but it wouldn't move. Popped the cover off and saw that when I hit trim down the starter pinion would pop up. A wire to the trim relay had rubbed through its coating and was contacting the bottom of the starter. I must have hit trim down as I was running, the starter pinion popped up, hit the rapidly spinning flywheel and snapped right off.
