Hi brim_buster I will check for the screws in the morning perhaps you would also know what is the electric socket for right next to the fuel pipe connector on the same engine I have only just got the tomorrow 4hp and have not started since getting it from a boat jumble as I am just checking over the whole thing before fitting it to my boat as a reserve it seems a bit strange as this socket is also wired into the magneto and the kill switch does the engine have to have an external battery connected to it or is it for charging a battery or powering lights??? As I have not got a manufacturer manual and have found it very difficult to find out much info regarding Tomas outboard engine for things like this and plug gap points gap and ignition timing regards richard190@talktalk.net
Apparently according to the manual the socket is for 12 volt 60w service to plug in extra consumers. Looks like some sort of solid state ignition. The manual shows 2 types of ignition on those models. Didnt look like there were points on your model if so the gap is .035 to .045. http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/63393693/file.html is where you can download the manual at
