Thoughts about buying this boat

Hi, I have had a tri hull in the past. But I have been looking for a project boat.

This is what I have found........

85 Glastron Conroy with no motor or outdrive.

Trailer has new tires. and they only want 300 for boat and trailer.

I guess my question is how hard is it to find out what the motor and drive "should be" and then is this worth it or would I be better off finding a boat with motor and drive that needs repair?

Thoughts and comments?

Thanks for your help!

Well, if the hull & floor are solid, there's nothing to say you couldn't find a second donor boat that has the powerplant you need (but is shot otherwise) and just put the 2 together.

Most I've seen here are Mercs, you can often tell by the shape of the hole in the transom.

That boat...ah, I'd figure you were paying 300 for the trailer. I would never pay for a boat in that condition not even $5 unless you need it really bad for some reason like special parts for another project or its a collectors hull, etc. The motor and trailer you can part out and sell, but a trashed hull you have to pay the landfill to take. Try to get a lower price on any stuff like that, in reality it is worth little there are VERY few people like you wanting to rebuild one. The only downside is if you do want to, there might not be much to pick from and you take what you can find if you don't want to wait and look more. However, I'd always look for as complete a boat/trailer as I could find, even if you don't use it all besides the hull you can sell it off.
