I just looked at a 2000 maxum 2300sc. I was very pleased with what I saw. The boat was fairly clean, the engine compartment was clean, the 5.0 Mercruiser started right up and ran for about 15 minutes.

I don't know much about this particular model / year. I have seen prices for these running from 8 - 18k. This was the first one I have looked at.

I was not able to put this in the water to test it that way, but, what I did see, and test ran very well.

What are some thoughts anyone can share about this models reliability, reviews.

Anyone own now or previous have any thoughts about this model / year. As I am going to look at another the same year and size tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for all the help from this forum.

There are thousands of examples of boats that ran well on the muffs and could not get out of their own way on the water. Never buy without a sea trial.

5.0L seems small for a boat that size too. I wouldn't go with anything less than a 5.7L

This is one of many reasons to require a sea test. A boat motor running on muffs is almost useless, it offers no indication of how it will perform under load. I agree the 5.0 is most likely the cheaper version of power options on that size of a boat.
