Thousand Islands, NY

Howdy folks, great forum. I'm new and my first post.
Next year I am planning on spending a week at 1000 Islands and maybe down to Sackets Harbor. Does anyone know the area? Any navigation concerns? Recommend good marinas, restaurants, motels with docks, things to see? Any info would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Lot's of concerns about boating in the thousand island area. Buy a really good updated chart because there are many unmarked rocks. You should always go slow when boating in unfamiliar waters. If you're not used to boating in a strong current, the St. Lawrence seaway may also pose a challenge when anchoring or docking. Also please realize that there are very very large ships that use the seaway for navigation so stay away from them.
