Been trying like hell to find out as my boat is at the shop and want to order a fuel pressure gauge / regulator.. its a 1988 mercy 5.0lx with 4bbl rochester with the short metal filter.. I got a new carter fuel pump and want to make sure its getting the proper fuel pressure.. I want to make sure if I break down what the issue is..

Ayuh,..... I believe it's 3/8" inverted flare at the carb, 'n 1/4" pipe at the filter,.....

Ahh...the fuel pressure gauge is a nice idea for diagnostics but may not be legal vs CG regs and it if ever leaked and caused a fire, I would not want the liability. Any fuel system component I install in an inboard, has to be CG approved. Too much risk too much liability.

Now installing one temporarily to make sure the new fuel pump is not putting out too much pressure, is not a bad idea...but that's only for diagnostics...not for a permanent installation. Yes I know people use them on their hot rods all the time...but boats have a closed compartment...gas fumes are a very bad thing....
