thread switch

as you all know i'm new to the boating world. so i have a lot of what some might call stupid questions. the light switch on my 1972 starcraft is not working the way i think it should. should both bow and stearn lights be on at the same time? my switch works like this. switch in, all off. switch one knotch out, stearn light on. switch all the way out, bow light on stearn light off. is this correct

That is not correct, Dave.

Both bow and stern lights when underweigh. Stern light only when hove to or anchored. Never bow light only.

Your fully out position should operate both bow and stern lights.
