threads for carrier bearing nut

im getting ready to buy a new carrier bearing retainer nut but noticed the threads arent that nice. look to be worn do to corossion. is there any thread cleaning tool avalible to chase threads? thanks ken ps mercruiser pre alpha

Are you refering to the nut's threads or the shafts threads if it be the shafts you would need a thread file usually comes with 8 different standard thread sizes nct and nft. Now if your reffering to the nut anything over an inch in dia will be a little pricy for a one time use take it with you to a machine shop and or a marine mech and see if they'll chase it for you.
