Evening All,
I have a Mercury 500 50 hp of 1977 vintage that will not rev up,starts decent but no faster than idle. With the hood off and the forward control all the way should you see the lower stop screw against the stop?
The warm up lever moves the upper screw to it,s stop position so I thought the shifter should come up to lower stop position.
Do I bring the throttle speed up by adjusting the brass thumb nut on the cable ? All the gears are working shift travel seems fine.
Thanks Mike
