Is there a way to adjust the throttle cable on a 1985 50HP Evinrude? Currently it seems like I have to move the throttle a lot before in goes into gear, and even further to hit full speed. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Throttle adjustment

Throttle action varies significantly due to wear and design. If you remove the airbox on the engine, push the throttle wide open and the throttle plates are perfectly horizontal in the carburetor throat, the throttle is working properly. Throttle and shift cable adjustment is covered in this forum over and over. Use the search feature using "Throttle Cable Adjustment" or "Throttle and Shift Cable Adjustment".
