1993 model!

Its the idle speed adjustment. More of a stop really because it limits how far you can reduce the speed.

Needs a fair bit of twiddling to make much difference.

Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed, anticlockwise to reduce it.

Yes 1993 I just got it. Fresh water motor in great shape but no manual.:( I'm not much of a engine guy, but I'm trying to fine tune it a little.

I notice that it also has an idle adjust on the carb. #30 in THIS Diagram and an idle mixture screw #15. I am not sure what the initial setting for the mixture screw is on this type of carb but to adjust it turn it in a little at a time at the lowest possible speed until it starts to run poorly then back it out again until it runs sweetly.

That's about all you can do easily. The high speed jet #23 is fixed

The recommended plugs are Champion QL77JC4 or QL86C gapped at 0.030"

Fuel is of course 50:1

It would be wise to check or change the gearcase oil. Change the water-pump impeller too unless you know that it has been done recently

Worth reading http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086 if you know little about its history.

Maybe you can get an owners manual via your dealer or direct from http://www.outboardbooks.com/
