Throttle Body question

New to the forum so thanks in advance.

Silly Question that I should probably know. Do you need to rebuild a Throttle Body Injection the way you would a regular carb? Can you just spray carb cleaner in it? Should I? What is the preventative mainenance for one of these? Or is there? I do the standard additives, water separation filter, and stablization. It is a 5.7 EFI OM series.

I had a small Chevy pickup and I never did anything to that TBI.

Re: Throttle Body question

So there no parts to replace or inspect? The two injectors seem to be doing fine.

Re: Throttle Body question

It should not require any maintenance. Just like your truck, cause it's the same exact system.
I "believe" that the screens in the injectors can be removed and replaced, but in 10 years and 800+ hours, my 97 Chaparral with TBI on it never needed any service. Other than the injectors, the throttle plates are the only other parts, and they don't wear out. I supposed the throttle plate shaft could wear out, but I have a 90 Model van with the same TBI and it's all perfect.
It's a very simple system, no need to mess with it.
Stabilizer when storing is always a good idea, though.
