Gday, I am trying to perform my first l & s on my new to me 1982 2cyl 60hp. First task according to the clymers is a throttle cable adjustment, when i move the control lever slowly back the nearest the stop screw gets to bottoming out is approx 3/16" away from the stop, it will push back easily though as if there is some wear in the cable/linkages, the screw is neither all the way in or out. Trouble is, when i adjusted the trunnion nut on the cable to bottom out the screw it throws the throttle cam and follower adjustment way out if you get my drift. Should i be adjusting the stop screw or the rod adjustment between the lever and cam maybe instead of the trunnion so much to prevent things from getting way out of wack? Or is a new cable needed? I realise i will be adjusting the timing later in the procedure but dont want to just go do something thats not mentioned in the manual and then find the timing is off.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Cheers.
