Hey boaters, I was wondering if anyone had any wisdom on the subject of fitting a modern throttle cable(was used on the valve cover style connection for a 91' mercruiser 140 3.0 that came out of the boat) to an older (1981) Mercruiser 140 3.0 (6018808) with a Rochester 2 jet carb. The carb is set up for the manifold mounted cable? Will mine still work or will if be too short or incompatible? I switched the choke to electric already... Is there any way i can rig this thing up without going into my wallet?

Re: Throttle cable connection on later model 140hp 3.0?

FYI, I did also swap the valve cover over to the older motor to use as the connection point for the shift cables. It would be great if someone had come up with a design for an extending arm for the shorter throttle body of the Rochester carb. The boat is set up for the valve cover type connection, and it would be convenient to use it if i could find a way to hook it up... Doesn't seem too far fetched, but I'd like some incite from those of you who have faced this problem. Thanks, Matt
