Does my 1985 Johnson 15 hp manual start outbourd use a throttle cable to get the gas from tiller to carburater ? That is the only thing that I am having problems with. I just wish that someone here could show me a picture of their motor showing what goes from the tiller gears that twist from the twist handle to the linkage that moves the carburater when opening up the gas. To make the engine gain RPM's.

There is a throttle stop on this model . The throttle will only open so far unless the engine is running. If you remove the cowling the throttle assembly is under the fly wheel. You will feel the throttle stop as you turn it to the start position. Look at the assembly below the fly wheel. Pull back the throttle stop ,and this will allow the throttle to move without the engine running. If it does not move there must be a break in the linkage.

Thank you Robert. That answers everything. I thought that I was missing a major part because I could not see anything. Is that the throttle cam ? Someone else had taken the carburater off before I bought it. I just cleaned it and put it all back together and thought that there was a major part missing because I saw nothing that would make the carburater work while twisting the tiller grip.
