hello

i have a 1982 evinrude 140.
the idle is a bit rough. it runs very well, even at full power. no problems up to 4000 rpms. after 1-2 minutes at full throttle the buzzer starts. cooling water runs well. after shutting down the engine and a restart after 2-3 minutes same procedure as above.
Any idea about what might be wrong?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I had that problem with my yamaha and it was low on oil. If the engine is low on oil it will not let the engine run at the higher rpms's. I had a clog in the oil tank, cleaned it up and it runs great.

If the waterpump, thermostats, and pressure relief valves are within specs, Replace the water deflectors under the head.

I believe your motor is not oil-injected (VRO). If its not I would agree with Clanton that your problems are temperature related. If your motor IS oil-injected then I would look to oil starvation issues first.
