Throttle Control Box

Is there anything that can go wrong from simply opening a mercury throttle control box?<br />I.E. to look at the ignition switch<br />thanks

Yes. Getting everything to line-up going back together usually results in language that shouldn't be repeated here. It's a balllet getting those back together sometimes. Pinching wires is also a problem.

what model, some have a removable cover.<br />and you can get to switch<br />.<br />some are as WillyB say ..."SPROING !!

1973 mercury 650 65 hp...........i took the control box apart then back together(without aligning anything but the screwholes) now it wont start???????????????argh please help?

you have the shifter cam out of position .<br />the neutral switch is not made..<br />or the ignition switch is bad.<br />that is if no start means the engine will not crank over
