Throttle Control maintenance

Is there any maintenance to do like cleaning or lube the shifter/throttle arm - it is a Quicksilver - is there something to lube inside ?<br /><br />Plus what is that friction adjustment knob in the front - I don't see much difference if I turn in or out this knob.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Smoky

Hi smokey<br /><br />Once you clean it up and lube the pivot points of levers and gears in the control, it should be good for years. Use grease on the pivot points of arms and levers. A little silicon spray on the gears. The friction control is used to prevent "creeping" down of the control lever while underway. You usually have to crank it down pretty tight for it to have any effect. Most times it's not nessesary to use it.
