I am redoing the interior on my 1986 fourwinns and I can't seem to get the throtte control lever off it has a mercruiser 4.3l with a alpha one on it. I have removed all the screws and tugged on it a bit. Is there anything special that I am missing other than brute force. This is the best Picture I could come up with.
Re: Throttle Control Removal

If you look under the throttle handle you'll find an allen screw, real descent torque. If I remember right, you'll need thread locker.

Welcome to iboats. :)

There is an allen setscrew that needs to be loosened. You'll find a notch in the lever's pivot that has to line-up with the setscrew to get at it.

I've already got rid of that screw. Is there any thing else it might be? I want to say thanks for all the help you guys have provided if it wasn't for this forum I would be up a creek with a broke boat.

Re: Throttle Control Removal

The throttle control is not easy to remove and reinstall. If you don't have a Mercruiser manual covering this R&R, I suggest you not attempt it.
Pry off the decal on the backing plate, after you remove the throttle handle, you'll find four phillips screws. The nuts are on the back side of the control.
