throttle control to timing advance adjustment

ok, I have a 8HP Chrysler outboard with CDI ignition. Model number 82H8-5 serial 1799 engine. I am looking for information on how to set the threaded rod with 2 screw on ball ends. one end goes to the timing advance plate and the other to the pivot arm that is turned by the throttle control. I have a manual and it tells me how to time the advance plate to the carb. but one of the threaded ball ends broke and I have to replace it. I guess I want to know how long from one end to the other that rod should be or how to set the Twist throttle control settings to the timing plate. SO when the timng advance is all the way at the stop, where should the throttle control lever be? Full throttle? and also when the carb pivot is against the timing mark on the timing plate where should the twist throttle control be? start, slow? shift? Thanks for any help
