Throttle issue

Hello all I am new to the forums and am hoping to get some help. I have a 1973 Glasspar cutlass 175 with 140hp I/o mercruiser the issue I am having is when I move my throttle handle forward once I reach about 100% the handle keeps going but the linkage in back does not move any more. Is there some type of adjustment I need to make or a keeper that needs tightened? Any advice would help.
Thanks in advance.

Howdy

My first thought is you may need to replace the control, but to verify we would need a model number of at least post a Pic of your control so we can look it up

The throttle is less then a year old. Will have to take pics when I get home. It works just fine just doesn't seem right.

Being new, Will it keep going and make a complete loop or have a stop a bit further?

It will stop further up just the last 2-3 inches the cables on the linkage in rear don't move any further.

It's like the stop is further up on the throttle handle so it hits full throttle then there is just a bit extra before the handle hits the stop. I hope I am explaining it well enough.

Is the throttle plate in the carb fully open when the cable stops moving?
