Ive got an 85 Bayliner Capri 1950 with a Volvo powertrain.
I pulled the throttle away from the wall to pump the throttle a bit before starting. It went totally free at first, moving all around with NO resistance. I moved it back and forth a few times trying to figure out what the heck was going on, and then it stuck in about the 3/4 position. It wouldnt move at all, and it would neither push in or pull away from the wall, it was stuck in between.
I pulled the panel away from the wall so I could see the mechanism, and there was a plate with a zig zag slot cut in it, it was stuck in the middle position, but then it started to move again.
We got the trip in, but now neutral is where 3/4 throttle should be, and full throttle is just stupid, like 7 o clock or something almost pointed at the floor. AND, the function of pulling it away to get the throttle only moving without engaging the gears is GONE.
Anybody been through this? Yes, I can still run my boat, but it feels ridiculous, and if it breaks any more, I can see it now, I will be back there operating the old Solex with my hand while my better half drives us in.
