Throttle linkage problem?

So today I took my boat out for the first time this season and the first hour or two it ran awesome, we were hitting just under 45mph at about 4300rpm, according to the on board speedo. Well we decided to turn the boat off and just lay by the coast for a while and listen to the music, well I didnt even think about it and had the motor off and the stereo on, which resulted in needing a jump. Well we got that taken care and then for the next 3 hours or so the boat seemed to be really down on power. The highest speed we got was about 30 and the max rpm we saw were 3000. Any ideas on what might have caused this? Possibly the throttle linkage loosening?

Oh and the boat is a '89 VIP Victory with the OMC 5.0. Thanks for the help guys.
