I found a manual for this thing. The part I am looking for is called the "Shift Gear Spring" The problem is the manual has no part numbers. Not sure how I'm going to replace this thing. I bought a set of springs from home depot. Found a spring thats the right size but the gauge is to think so you can't push the throttle button in all the way because its to stiff. ugg

That's why this thread was moved to Steering & Controls. It was too confusing in the OMC section.

It's not part number 8. That's the spring found in the handle. The spring I'm looking for is in the controller. The spring holds in a pin that allows the controller to shift in gear. When you press the throttle only button in the pin pushes into the missing spring which locks the gear shifting mechanism allowing you to open throttle only. I just can't figure out what part that spring is

Part number 33 not for sale lol
Ah i see now, you're deep into the shift control mechanism for repairs....I was thinking of (more stuck on) the outside handle components vs the inside components and kept thinking I don't recall that handle having a spring for the throttle only button.

Did you buy the repair kit Merc part number 85882A1 ? If you read through all these eBay listings, they show the inner and outer springs, http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_f...882A1&_sacat=0

Run the part number online including an image search and EBay too to see what you can find as well...Good luck.

Edit: ^ I see you found the kit at about the same time I did.:eagerness:
