Hello,

I have just changed throttle & shaft cables and cannot set them (connect to the engine).
It looks like shaft cable is too long... (cables are the same as previous ones) I can set rear gear but cannot set front.

Do you have any tricks & tips when you connect new cables to the engine?

My engine -> Force 85 HP 88'

Your service manual should have the proper instructions on setting up the cables :)

Now: The correct way to set the cables, both shift and throttle, is to set the control handle in forward. This makes both cables at their longest. You then connect the steel ferrule into the shift or throttle clamp and screw it down with the "dent" in the ferrule groove.

Now, pull the end of the cable and clip it over the ball connector. Depending upon the cable and your engine and control box, it may be necessary to adjust the coupler on the threaded end of the cable a bit. The throttle cable usually has a larger spring loaded connector. Correct installation is with the center pulled out about 3/16 inch so that the throttle tower does not start to move until the engine has fully shifted into gear.

Yeah, well, some of us understand that while a manual is always preferable, sometimes people don't have one for various reasons. If you intend to do much work on the engine yourself, it would pay to get either a factory manual (preferable) or a Clymers. Seloc seems to leave out little bits of information and just generally seems to confuse newcomers.

I don't know about over there, but here in the US, these manuals can often be found in the local libraries. And, if you use the search function, there are lots of diagrams for many engine systems right on this forum.

I have Seloc manuals but as you said it is waste of time...
I really would like to have service manuals but here in UK Force engines are not so popular, so to get service manuals are almost impossible.
