Throttle shifter

Have a Tracker 60 hp Evinrude. The motor runs great in neutral. Goes into gear like it should. When shifted to forward and push throttle forward, the motor will not gain any speed, and the shifter can't be push forward to accelerate. It reaches a "slow" speed and not being able to "push" shifter forward I can't move but at the lower speed. Like I said , when in neutral the shifter moves forward and motor revs up like it should. Put it in forward gear, starts off but will not gain speed.

Check the gear shift cable adjustment. If the engine is all the way into gear before the control box has completed the gear shift part of it's travel it will lock things up trying to get the cable to move further.
