Hey all,

I have a 98 3.0 merc with a quicksilver 3000 classic throttle lever. While out on the water I had the trim button wire get severed by the lever. I pulled the lever off and patched the wire. When I put the lever back on it was very hard to move to the forward position. When I moved it to the reverse position it seemed not as hard as moving it forward.

I did loosen the bolts on the quicksilver throttle housing to see how to get the lever off(long story). However I bolted everything back down. Is there something I should be checking to see why it's so tough to move? Also, is there a place to look at breakdown of the throttle lever and cables behind it so I can get a torque spec?

thanks

double check your wires at the pivot point of the control arm, they need enough 'play' to pivot with the control arm without jamming, binding, or pinching the wires.

I did check that and there seems to be enough "play" in the wires.
