Re: Thru hull transducer

I'm assuming you want to keep the transducer and replace the head unit. Unfortunately, as the sonar technology changes and improves, so do the cables and connectors. There are some techniques to cutting and splicing transducer cables (do an internet search) but it is tricky and best left to experts. You could get lucky though with that brand since my experience is with Lowrance and Humminbird. Removing an existing thru-hull transducer isn't fun but putting a new one in is pretty easy. Best of luck.

Depends.....the model number of the transducer and the make and model number of the current equiptment would be a good start. ;)

Having said that, a 14 years old transducer is most likely pretty well shot.

Re: Thru hull transducer

I am guessing along the lines that Dingbat was. 14 years they surly have lots of new technology in that field. And it sure seems to me it would be easer to put in a new transducer than getting the old one to work with the upgraded equipment. But then again that is just my opinion. Good luck..

I wouldn't trade out transducers in the hope of better technology. Until you get into the high end transducers very little has changed in the last 25 years. Most of the advances have been in the electronics and discrimination algorithms.
