Thru Transom or Drive exhaust

Well, as some of you may know I'm building a 383 for my 1984 Sea Gem project. I bought a set of GLM manifolds with 4" risers to replace the bad 3" that was there.
My question is really 2 part, to adapt to my original Y pipe, the new risers are 7 deg as opposed to 15 deg I'm thinking a 75 deg elbow 3"x4"?

2nd part of my question - is the drive exhaust setup going to choke the heck out of the engine, should I just go to a through the transom with exhaust tip mufflers instead.

the engine is a mild build 9.5:1 cr Comp Cams Extreme Marine 256h, ported and polished 882 heads ( yea I know they are known to crack :( but they were free) if I went to a 64cc head I would have had to switch to a dish piston to keep the cr down torker manifold (also Free)

Any thoughts?

Ayuh,... I really, Really doubt you'll see Any difference in performance,...

It's more of a question as to whether you can stand the Noise,+ how badly you want to pizz off those around you...

::shrug::

Through-drive won't choke it. You need real headers and open exhaust to get any HP gains from an exhaust setup.

Thanks Bondo, that was my other concern, this is a family fishing boat I really don't want the noise myself. If there won't be much difference in performance I will stick with the out the drive exhaust.

Will the 75 deg elbow do the trick for the 8deg difference in risers? I want to order what I need because I hope to drop her in this weekend :)

Thanks, for the input, yea, im not getting that nutty with it. The GLM's with their claim of being tuned is as far as I'm going with it.

The GLM's with their claim

Ayuh,... Run a flat file accross the tops to make Sure they're Flat...
The 1s I've got needed remachining to flatten...
Almost lost my motor to hydro-lock because the inner surface was lower than the outer surface...

All of merc power ratings are done with thru-hub exhaust, up to 375.
