1/2 Stainless steel, fine thread with nylon locknuts and washers. For freshwater you can get the same bolts in galv iron, grade 5 or higher is best.

first off I had a diff name here but the email is no longer avail so I cant get the password I used. (Dirt_Bag)

First make sure it is where you want it....test run
You may want to coat the holes in you transon if it isn't all metal...
I have wood in mine. I resin coat the holes then use 5200 on the bolts to keep water out.

Skag-it, A lot of the newer, larger OBs do not have any transom clamps. You have to bolt them, no other choice....

Skagit is the county I live in. It sounds like "skajit"
It is a point of holes in the transon. It deosn't matter 3hp or 300hp. You dont want water inside your transom.

Ace hardware carries both Galvanized as well as Stainless that works for this application.

Don't use 5200 'cause if you do and ever want to remove the mtr for some reason you may lose some gel coat from the boat. They do make good below water line sealers. I've always used the OEM hardware for mounting the mtrs and torqued bolts to correct spec. I guess I didn't want the mtr jumping in the boat.
