I pulled off the prop to look for model #. I found the nut way below the 50 ft/lbs torque in the merc book. I did not think to check for wiggle before I removed it. The thrust washer and prop shaft have some galling. Size of spot is about 1/16th on both. Should I clean up and regrease and retorque to spec or are they both toast?

18ft 1982 ranger 150 V150XR. Cannot plane up and checking for correct prop (among many other things)

As always
Thanks

Re: thrust washer galling

Clean, inspect, grease, reassemble with proper torque, check the thrust washer to make sure it will not go to far on the shaft that it will drag on the housing, after assembly check to be sure the prop spins free and true. look at clearance between prop and housing to be sure it is ok, not sure of the spec on this. The bronze thrust washer will wear before the steel shaft will, check the splines in the hub and on the shaft for wear, the hub to shaft should be a nice smooth slip fit. Run it and check it, then after a few runs check it again just to make sure it is not working loose.
