I have a 98 Merc. 60 hp. electric ELPTO and was wondering which way the thrust washer goes for sure. I have always instaled it with the belved side towards the gear case and flat side towards the prop but it seems like after two-three years I have to replace it as it has worn. Is this natural for it to do this. I am running a stainless prop if that would make any difference or not. Otherwise no other problem with the engine at all.
