i have a 1991 force 120 outboard and seem to foul 2 of the 4 plugs after about 50 hours..champion has a plug that runs a bit hotter but it is for engines that have the thunderbolt ignition...ive only owned the boat for a year and am not the most mechanically inclined. what should i look for on the engine to determine if mine has the thunderbolt or not. i currently use a champion copper plus ul18v .

1991 used both the prestolite and the thunderbolt ignitions.
Do you have the model number for the motor?

Or, look at the sparkplugs.
Follow the wire back to the coils.
What color are they? blue or black?

If they are blue, you should also have 2 blue cd modules. This is the Prestolite ignition.

The thunderbolt ignition uses black coils.

Many would say that if you are only fouling 2 plugs every 50 hours, you are doing great.
