I have a '73 Slickcraft that came with a Merc Ford 302. I'm installing a Chevy 305, with all of the accessories from a 1996 Merc 5.7LX, including the ignition. The problem is, I don't have the engine harness from the donor engine. I want to splice in the Thunderbolt V into my existing harness, but I don't know where to find connectors for the modules. I have the ICM and KCM, both distributor mounted, but no one seems to know where I can get the 5 and 8 pin connectors. Any thoughts? Please let me know if I left out any relevent information.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Thunderbolt V Conversion Help

I Wouldn't even Think of Trying to use that 30-odd year old Ford wiring harness on a 23 year Newer Chevy................

None of what you Need is going to be Where you Need it..........

I see Complete Wiring Harnesses All the Time on ebay,..... Going for Well Under $100.00.........
All Vintages,... Most Models,.... I picked up a Complete 4.3LX Wiring Harness,.. With the Dist.,+ the Ing.Module,.........
For Less than $50.00 Delivered to My Door............
I Know this was Extreme,..... But be Persistent,+ Exactly What You Need,... Will Come Along............

BTW,...... Why on earth are you using a 305,.. Instead of a 350,..???........

Thanks for the input. There's not much to the rest of the harness, just sensor hookups really, and it's all in good shape.

I'll keep an eye out on EBAY for the complete harness anyway though, if I can come out under $100 it will be worth it.

I'm going with the 305 for a little better economy, still more HP than the 302, and the 350 long block will replace the 305 in my Trans Am, I'd rather have the power there.

Tom

Re: Thunderbolt V Conversion Help

I found the 5 pin connector from the knock control module, its the same as the spark control on a third generation Trans Am. No luck on the 8-pin ignition control connector yet. The Merc parts guy tells me its part of the engine harness, but the harnesses I've found for sale on Ebay don't have it. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Tom
