Thundercraft Logo options

Hello!

This is my first post on this website, lots of good stuff out there!

I have a Thundercraft 1560ss that I got from a boat junk yard a couple of years ago. This boat has been my pride and joy. I have totally gutted it and re-upholstered it myself according to the original color scheme. The motor I purchased separate, the first was a Johnson 70hp, the current one is a 90 hp Evinrude (both engines need a lot of TLC). I found this to be the right engine (not to mention the capacities plate gives this as a max hp). There is nothing like the feeling of being out on the water and knowing that I repaired or replaced everything on it.

My next goal this year is to get the boat's fiberglass polished and small repairs, maybe re-gel coat it (no painting). To do this right I am going to take off all of the decals. I want to know what options in designs of the Tundercraft logo as well as the 1560ss decal. I also plan on redoing the pin-striping. I want to know/see what others have or perhaps what you can suggest for this boat. My original thought was to replace the decals exactly, but I am open to suggestions perhaps for a modern look. I don't want anything tacky.

(If any one is interested in a small recount of my journey from purchase day to where it is now, I may consider doing another thread where I can share what I did with all of the pictures.) Thanks in advance for the input!

Before I took my old ones off I took some some digital pictures with a ruler underneath and on the side. I took the pics to a graphics place who were then able to custom make me some that came out fairly close to original. When I say fairly close they weren't able to get the angle of the font perfect but I was happy with them. The cost was around $75 for a set of 3 (1 spare)

So I take it you went with the original look versus going for something all together different?

Did you stay with the same color or go with something different?

Do you have a picture with how the graphic came out? I am trying to get as much info as I can before I decide what I want to do. Right now I am leaning towards keeping it original looking, but I know that the original decals are not available except to have them made.

You might want to check eBay - I bought some suzuki vinyl decals that were first class. You might find someone who already has the logo configured for their cutter. FYI

I don't have any pics of the new ones but here are the old ones from the port and stbd side, you see the fender rash that has worn away the graphics over the years, they were 17 yrs old at the time of the pics. The new ones were an almost exact match because I wanted to keep it looking original. The graphics shop I went to actually had a Thundercraft logo on file from a previous customer but it was from a different year so it was significantly different. From looking at your pics and mine even though they are both Thundercraft I suspect they are from the 2 different companies. Mine was built in Canada and the logo was always one word in Capitals THUNDERCRAFT and yours I think was the US company that spelled it Thunder Craft.

I checked out ebay, but I didn't find anything. I think that I am going to have to have them designed and cut.

Boatin Bob, thanks for the pics,
They helped me decide on whether I wanted something different or keep it stock. I am going to keep it stock. I figure I will keep the look of the boat as when it was designed. When I redid the interior, I replaced everything the same as it was when it was original, I might as well go with the same idea with the decals.

My next question is: Does anyone have a good up close picture of the ThunderCraft logo, (like the one that is currently on my boat) and a good close up picture of the 1560ss.

The boat is shrink wrapped right now and I don't want to cut the shrinkwrap, we are still getting crappy weather. This is one of these projects I want to get out of the way during the winter, when the nice weather comes, I just want to go out and play!
