High Tide:

High tide is really high, and the ramp gets quite flat where the water comes up. So my brother in law and I are putting the boat back on the trailer after a night of fishing. Get it all hooked up, and come up to the van where he has the door open and has a plank of wood to walk on to get into the door without getting too wet. Great. So take 2 steps on the board, and on the the third step a nail that was in the board went right through my shoe into my foot. Damn that hurts. He thought it was pretty funny (didn't know it was there, it was dark out). I almost smacked him in the head with the board. Ended up getting wet anyway of course.

Low Tide:

This past Saturday, went out flukeing with both my brothers in law. Nice morning of fishing. Got back, dead low tide. Ramp is really steep at this point and covered with the usual slippery crap. So we get the boat winched to the trailer, and I attempt the usual over-the-bow dismount. Missed the trailer somehow, put my foot down on the ramp, and immediately landed on my butt and slid right down the ramp like a waterslide into the drink. Even I was laughing so hard it hurt. Not a scratch or bruise on me, just a little (a lot) wet.

I'm going to try to time my ramp activity for mid-tide I think...
