Re: Tie Down Disc Brakes
I have got them and they kick BASS!!!

They are on all 4 wheels on my trailer. Make sure you get the newest version. they are painted black. The older versions had some challenges and are bare aluminum.

If you have an existing actuator with drum brakes you will need to add a reverse lockout solenoid so you can back up (also biggest cause of premature wear). You will also have to puncture a seal inside the actuator. The brakes have instructions on this.

You should be around $75 a brake. More than that (West marine, Northern Hydraulics for example) and oyu are paying too much!! A good source is
http://www.championtrailers.com they have all the parts for a full system and their techs could help.

I had an early version and got a good deal directly from Tiedown (they don't normally sell direct) in upgraded brakes.

Biggest thing to watch for is if you run through the brake pads, you will damage the rotors and the calipers. Carry extra.

Much easier to rinse and they stop better than drum brakes. I like them!

I have 15,000 miles on my trailer, and even without the solenoid (at first) my first set of brake pads went over 6000 miles.

Good luck and have fun!
