tiller handle froze up

i have a 1968, 9.8 ,merc. the control handle is stuck and wont move. i removed it and used some penetrating oil to free it up, no good! can someone tell me how to disassemble this handle.the gear wont turn off and i didnt want to break it. thanks

yes, but the shaft is seized and wont turn to line up the pin. problem! huh? i may try soaking in ???????[that wonder oil]cant think of name. any suggestions? thanks.

Chances are the end with the ball gear is the one thats stuck, I would remove the handle and stand it on end and soak it with powertune overnight when using a brass punch or anything a little soft try tapping the ball gear both back in and out and cross ways to loosen it

LADDIES:been soaking 2 days,still no go. thinking of drilling 2 holes in under side of handle,below and above inner bushings,submerging in penatrent[sp] and see what happens. do u have a suggestion? what is your preferred penatrating oil? thanks don
