hi all,
i have a 1980 evinrude 9.9 (model e10rcse) with the old style tiller that uses gears/cogs. there is alot of play in this now between all the linkages, and i was wondering what my best course of action would be. 1) try to take up slack in the gears/cogs with shims, 2) replace all components with the same new (price?), or 3) replace entire tiller arm with the new style that has the cable system (if possible and cost comparable). any thoughts from those more experienced at this kind of thing would be appreciated.
