Hello everyone,
I have a early 80's evinrude 9.9 that is remote control. However I need a tiller steer to put on my walleye boat. How do I change this over. I like electric start, but want to use this for back trolling. I just got the lift plate from BPS to raise the engine 5 inches so now need to figure how to add the tiller. Is this an easy change or should I let my mechanic do it for me? Thank you for any information including where to get parts

If you're not familiar with working on outboards I'd let your mechanic do it. JMO.

The easiest way is to buy another identical non running motor for little money and change all the parts over to yours. These motors are common and most were tiller models, so finding one should be easy.
